Twenty Seventeen

A new year. Just.  Like. That.

The time passes so incredibly quickly these days it’s challenging to keep up. Every time I blink, I swear that 3 months have passed.

Goals for the new year:

  • Read a minimum of 1 book a month. I’ve notoriously been a sporadic reader. I’ll devour 3-4 books in a row and not turn another page for a year or more. Less social media; more brain food
  • Back to fitness. I’m over 40: my metabolism isn’t what it used to be and truthfully, I’ve grown lazy. Monday is today and it’s time to finally depart from Procrastination Station. Romeo has been completing an annual Half Marathon Series (3 events) for the past 2 years and while I can typically handle 1 half a year, I’m not up for 3. Luckily, this half series has a complementery 5K series, and that, I can get my quads and hamstrings around! My sweet Romeo signed me up for that…solidarity!
  • Be regularly involved in the community. This has been on my heart for as long as I can remember. I’ve dabbled here and there at various events over the years, but never really committed to an organization. I’ve found one that makes my heart smile and is run by amazing people. With a strong focus on homeless single mothers, I’m so in.
  • Simplify. Less is more. This has been an ongoing project for the last few years and it feels *so good* to remove that which clutters. I’m a long-term subscriber to Experiences over Stuff.

2017, let’s get this party started.

I’ll end this post with the secretly gifted journal my eldest daughter left on my nightstand for me to stumble upon:

wanderlust

Parenting win. Love her madly. So damn proud to be her mama.

May 2017 bring love, laughter, and many an adventure to any who read this.
